OUR HISTORY

In 1947, AUTOBACS began as a private auto parts store. To our founder Toshio Sumino, reliable car maintenance meant that a car must be in the best condition at all times. This belief is our foundation and what we still hold true. As AUTOBACS evolved as a company, our proposal for the best life with cars also evolved with the times. We will always continue to challenge ourselves in our path to becoming a 100-year company.


The corporate color for AUTOBACS is a shade of orange we have called California Orange. It was chosen as a way to adopt the frontier spirit of the pioneers and to represent the blazing sun that casts an orange filter over California. Our symbol features 6 lines that represent the products and services we offer to our customers. These six products come from the last 6 letters of our AUTOBACS name. With each of these lines connecting together at one place, it represents how we bring together many products into one store. It also is reminiscent of a highway, linking to our goal of creating an automotive society.

RETAIL STORES

Because we started as a retail store, we know our customers. We develop products that our customers want and need, and also look towards the future, anticipating their needs.

MOTORSPORTS

Our history goes back to 1969 when we started participating in motorsports. Any takeaways and learnings from the race track, we bring back into developing our products.

PRIVATE BRAND PRODUCTS

We research what our customers need and want to develop products that enrich the lives of our customers and their lives with cars.

OVERSEAS BUSINESS

AUTOBACS has been operating overseas since 1986. Our network continues to grow globally - over 620 stores and partnerships worldwide including 45 stores overseas (as of Mar. 2021)
